Swarr Auto

Hey Everyone,
I just wanted to give some feedback on my great experience with Swarr auto in collegeville. They finished a bunch of work on my car, all in one day, and really helped me out when a couple of things didn't go right. First off I had them put on an aluminum driveshaft and there was a fitment issue with the u joint so they just found a correct fitting part from one of their parts cars and made it work, free of charge! Then when they were dyno tuning the car, the software on my sct programmer was too old and preventing them from being able to tune it. Now keep in mind that they sell tuners, but they tried for like an hour (end of the day on friday trying to get done for the weekend!) to get mine to work and just when all seemed lost, I agreed to buy a new one because I had to have my car tuned to drive away that day (new gears). Anyway they said they were going to try one last time and they did get it to finally work by download and installing a software update, saved me some good $$! They also were fairly priced for all the work they did, they had tons of knowledge, and really did a thorough job and I couldn't be happier. Considering the caliber of the other cars there, new gt 500s, gt supercars, etc. I will keep using them for all my performance needs.

I to just had some work done by Swar Auto, Gears, and shocks, what a great experience, Eric and crew are genuine nice guys that are aware that we work for our money !, the car was in and out as promised, invited me over to watch the dyno at work, took all the time I needed to make me feel comfortable. I know where I am going from now on !!

I've been using Swarr for 2 years now. Eric is awesome and he'll get just about any part you need. He will advise you on the proper route to go on your car with whatever you are planning to do. If he doesn't know, he'll try to find out for you or point you in the right direction. The work done in the shop is excellent whether it's installing parts or dyno tuning. Excellent shop.

Eric's one of the few area shops I trust explicitly.
When I moved to this area I rented a place from erics father JIM Swarr.. (R.I.P)
along the way i learned a great deal by religiously paying my rent in person..
Alot of local history surrounds that shop, and the swarr family..
today Eric carries on the tradition..

Hey sawzall ,
That is cool to hear. Yeah, Jim was the first one I met too. He rebuilt a rear for my 67 fastback drag car like 10 years ago. He showed me his 60's red mustang, at the time it was probably one of the fastest street legal drag cars on the east coast. He used to drive it all the way to the jersey shore and he would race for pinks with people too! Anyway the connection with Jim lead me to meet Eric and his family history is the reason I trust him.

I don’t like smashing anyone but I’ve had a few issues there with my last cobra and won’t be returning.
The first time I was there was to get full length sub frames installed, he looked the car over, gave a quote and I left the car.
When I returned, he told me it was ready, I paid and when I looked, there were 1/2 length sub frame connectors because it tech was too lazy to notch them for the Trans cross member on my old 96 cobra. I was never told about it, but still paid for full length. I told Eric and he said he could do it another time for more $ because it was custom. I was a little pissed but it wasn’t the end of the world.
The next time I brought the car to get 3.55's and an Anderson power pipe for my Procharger.
The tech used an impact gun to take off my key'ed lugnuts and broke the key. They couldn’t get the keyed lugs off since they broke the key so they pulled the axels with the wheels still attached to do the gears. They called and told me that the car was ready to be picked up.
When I got there, before I paid, I took the car around the block. Right off the bat there was a whine 3rd gear 30mph. I got back, talked to Eric and when he asked the tech if he test drove the car, the tech said NO. So, Eric said he would look the install over and call me when he knew what the issue was.
The next day, I get a call and he says that it’s my transmission. It was a Bob Hanlon trans with less than 1200 miles and was never beat on because my motor had the same miles and was still being broken in. Odd, the issue wasn’t there before the gear swap, he said it was harmonics and it wasn’t the gear install. Also, upon looking at the power pipe, it was scratched up from being put in and out of the fender well and rubbing on the sides and the filter on the end fell off into the bumper. Also, my old parts weren’t returned until I asked.
So, I came away with a scratched up Power Pipe, keyed lugnuts that I had to remove with a special kit I had to buy, ½ length sub frame connectors and gears that whined.
This is just my issues. I could write a book on a friends car he had built there.

Cookieman00x,
That sucks to hear you had a bad experience there. I admit, some of the techs there seem less than top notch, I probably know more than some of them and I am not a traine mechanic. I personally spelled out exactly what I wanted and they delivered everything as promised without a hitch. Even with the problems you mentioned they are still probably one of the best shops around for stang upgrades.
